Below are some of the most common questions we have been asked over the years.
How much is an Enviroking franchise?
Enviroking's base franchise fee is $20,000.00 for territories of up to 40,000 residential homes.
Territories with greater than 40,000 residential homes are calculated at $0.50 per home (based on current
Canada Post Householder Counts).
What do I get for my initial franchise fee?
Briefly, the Enviroking franchise fee grants you the exclusive use of Enviroking's brand, systems,
procedures, experience, knowledge and expertise in your territory. The fee covers an initial term of 5 years.
What other major costs are involved?
The two largest investments are the truck and the spraying equipment package. Lease packages are available
for qualified applicants.
Are there ongoing head office fees?
Yes. There is a royalty fee of 6% and a 2% fee for marketing. Both fees are payable monthly on gross revenues.
What does the marketing fee cover?
The marketing fee contributes to corporate promotion and development of the brand in all territories and gives
you exclusive access to, and use of Enviroking's marketing materials in your territory. Franchisees are
responsible for costs associated with advertising and prospecting in their own territories and are supported
with a customized marketing plan, developed in concert with Head Office.
Can I buy a franchise and keep my current job?
Yes. Depending on the requirements of your current position it is possible to maintain your job AND be a
successful owner operator of an Enviroking franchise.
Do I have to buy my lawn care products from Enviroking?
All equipment, products and supplies must be purchased from authorized Enviroking vendors. Our approved
vendors know our needs and manufacture according to our specifications and standards. This ensures the highest
level of quality and consistency for our customers. All purchases are invoiced directly from the vendor to
franchisees. Enviroking does not add a service or handling charge on franchisee purchases.
Can I buy a franchise and hire someone else to work the business for me?
No. Our experience has proven that owner operators consistently show the best results. We believe it is
very important that the franchise owner be the first employee. This way the owner receives all of the initial
training and gets the vital first hand experience that is critical to a successful lawn care operation.
Do I have to be licensed to operate an Enviroking franchise?
Yes. In Ontario you have to be licensed by the Ministry of the Environment. The Ministry issues all licenses
required for pesticide application and charges a minimal fee for them.
Are there additional lawn care services I can offer?
Yes. We offer complete lawn care as well as landscaping services to our customers. In the first year
of operation Enviroking franchisees only offer fertilizing, weed, insect and crabgrass control, core
aeration and overseeding to customers. Once these services are mastered and a strong customer base has been
developed, additional landscaping services may be offered.
Why don't Enviroking franchisees offer grass cutting services?
Compared with the profit margins gained from the Enviroking list of services – grass cutting would be a
poor use of a franchisee's time. As well, grass cutting requires additional equipment and typically provides
very low margins.
Where does my training take place?
Our training program takes place at Enviroking's Head Office in Innisfil, Ontario. A good portion of our
training program is delivered in a classroom style setting. This is followed by field training where the
classroom is brought outdoors to real lawns in the area.
Can I offer services to businesses?
Yes. Enviroking franchisees serve existing and new homes, condominiums, apartment buildings and businesses
in their territories. In fact, one commercial contract for an apartment building can be worth as much as 10
or 15 residential contracts.
Isn't the lawn care business seasonal?
Most franchisees operate their business full time – year round. The field application season runs from March
through October – and preparation for the upcoming season, sales and contract renewals typically begin in
November and run through February.
How many customers can one truck properly serve?
Depending on the size of properties and the travel time involved, one truck can comfortably serve 500-1,000
regular customers in a season.
Do I need to rent an office or storage space?
No. An Enviroking franchise can be operated comfortably out of your home – and a single car garage is
all of the storage space that you'll need. This goes a long way in reducing initial overhead and
operating costs.
